The problems
What gets in the way, and how MannaBooks fixes it
Not knowing which enterprise pays
Tag income and costs to a cost centre and compare dairy, avocados and poultry side by side.
Inputs bought in bulk
Feed, seed and fertiliser go into stock and are costed as they are used.
Machinery losing value
The fixed asset register depreciates each machine every month.

Worked example
A dairy farm
The farm delivers 12,000 litres of milk a month to a processor at KES 50 a litre. It bought a tractor for KES 3,200,000, written off over 8 years.
- 1.The month's milk goes on one invoice to the processor, tagged to the Dairy cost centre.
- 2.50 bags of dairy meal at KES 2,900 a bag go into stock and are issued to Dairy as they are fed.
- 3.The tractor is depreciated by KES 33,333.33 every month.
- 4.The cost centre report shows the dairy's income, feed and other costs.
| Milk sales (12,000 × 50) | KES 600,000.00 |
| Dairy meal (50 × 2,900) | KES 145,000.00 |
| Tractor depreciation a month | KES 33,333.33 |
