Financial reports

Open Accounting > Reports. Every report can be printed or saved as a CSV file for Excel.

Profit and loss

Income less costs for a period. Pick a period (this month, last quarter, this year...) or your own dates, and compare with the previous period or the same period last year. Filter by cost centre, project or branch to see the profit of one part of the business.

The report is laid out as: sales, less cost of sales, gives gross profit; less operating expenses gives operating profit; plus other income and less other expenses gives net profit.

Profit and loss by department

Accounting > Reports > Profit and loss by department puts every department side by side, with a column for anything not tagged and the total, so you see which parts of the business make money. Switch the columns to cost centres, branches or projects.

A line belongs to a department when its document is tagged with the department, or with a cost centre that belongs to it. To split your books this way, give each cost centre its department (Accounting > Cost centres), and tag invoices, bills and expenses with a cost centre.

Balance sheet

What the business owns (assets) and owes (liabilities) on a date, and the owners' share (equity). The year's profit appears in equity until the year is closed. Total assets always equal liabilities plus equity; a badge confirms it.

Aged receivables and payables

Who owes you, and whom you owe, grouped by how late the invoices or bills are: not yet due, 1 to 30 days, 31 to 60, 61 to 90 and over 90 days. Click a name to see the documents. Use it every week to chase payments and plan what to pay.

Sales and stock by category

Each product category's sales for a period (before VAT, less credit notes), its share of all sales, and the value of the stock in it now. Use it to see which lines make your money and where your cash is tied up in stock.

VAT summary

Sales and purchases by VAT rate for a period, with output VAT, input VAT and the VAT to pay. These are the figures for your VAT return on iTax, due by the 20th of the following month. Only claim input VAT on purchases with the supplier's eTIMS invoice number.
